Finished painting

Well here is the end result of the 'Work in progress' I hope you like it. It reminds me of the time me and my Wife got our first car... it was a right old banger. But we loved it all the same. We decorated the inside with new seat covers and lots of dangly things. How sad were we eh?

Start of a New Year

Well, it's the time of many promises yet to break again. The turkey is now a frozen stew in my freezer to be eaten before March and I am down to my last few Rennies. But I have been busy painting over the holidays the first is a seaside painting and I have begun a work in progress. I am taking pictures of the development as it comes along. Here are the first two pics. The first is the drawing guidelines painted in very thin oil loosened with turps. This is much easier to paint over as the picture developes. The second picture is the background bringing the light source from the left to give a bit of mood to the painting.

I am sat here at the dining room table whilst my wife and my son are playing scramble. Just recovering from a day out shopping with my wife, she was looking for shoes... great fun eh? we went in all of the shoe shops in Yeovil (over a period of three hours) looking for the right colour, the right feel, and the right style. She ended up buying a mobile phone.

I came back home and finished my latest picture... my way to de-stress. I am putting these in to print as a limited edition of 100.

Here it is.

Thursday 10 December 2009

Well here it is as promised, I love doing these pictures as it reminds me so much of the seaside. When I was a child our most exciting time was going to Blackpool and as a kid the sea seemed so much bluer and the sun so much warmer, you could spend all day on the beach just digging.

These paintings tend to bring out that holiday feeling... or so I hope.

I am getting ready to start another, going to put a few preliminary sketches together this evening ready for next week. I am banned from painting this weekend as my wife wants my undivided.

Hope you like the picture!

Day 1 of Blogging!
Well it is 2.10 in the wee small hours and I have just put the finishing touches to my new painting, it is too dark and too late to photograph it, but that is the first thing on my list of 'to do's' for the morning. This is my very first blog, so as a virginal blogger I am sure I will make lots of mistakes, but I will do my very best....Night night.

Here is an image I finished earlier though. This is a new style which I am developing.
